RO ↔ KA = KATI ROSS
RO-KA Studio is a building and design studio based in Newcastle, established in 2021.
Kati Ross, Director of RO-KA Studio, has over 15 years of experience in the architecture and design industry, specialising in tailored residential projects. Her work focuses on thoughtful homes that respond to landscape, material and the way people live.
Kati has worked at award-winning architecture practices and has also tutored visual communication. Her experience includes international study and work in Denmark, community-based design and building in Salvador, Brazil with Peter Stutchbury, and collaborative projects with Tangentyere council.
Alongside architecture, Kati enjoys making bespoke objects and interior pieces, often exploring form through clay models and paints. She lives in Newcastle with her partner, a carpenter and builder, and their two children. Working closely with the building process, continues to shape her interest in material durability, construction and the craft of making.
RO-KA STUDIO
-values simplicity, material durability, human experience, landscape connection, spatial calm and passive design.
-curates space and atmosphere through light, structure, materials and landscape.
-believes that deeply understanding how clients live produces architecture that is both functional and meaningful.
-works through a collaborative and iterative design process. Detailed drawings and documentation are produced to ensure ideas are carefully realised in the built work.
